Zéralda is the least populous district in the Algiers province and was formerly part of Tipaza Province. Zeralda is a suburb of the city of Algiers and also a commune of the Wilaya of Algiers. The inhabitants of the commune have an agricultural vocation, but there are a few tourists who visit the commune and five kilometres of beach and attractions such as the wadi mazafran, wadi mehelma and the “ravine of the voleurs". In the south there is the “forest of the panteurs” which expands for 600 hectares. Zeralda strongly developed around the tourists, but remains an agricultural area. Les Sables d'Or and Safir Hotel Mazafran are the main of hotels in the area.
According to certain historians, the name came about when a man of worship called Mohamed Zeradli discovered Zeralda in 1844. In 1887 Zeralda was attached to the commune of Staoueli, but 1905, Zeralda become a commune of full exercise. Staouéli is a municipality located in Zéralda district on a Presque-isle, which is a geographical term denoting a piece of land which is closer to being an island than most peninsulas because of its being joined to the mainland by an extremely narrow neck of land. It is on the Mediterranean Sea and hosts the resort town of Sidi Ferruch which is popular among tourists. The Grand Prix circuit located in Staouéli is not popular anymore as the 7.2km circuit is no longer operational after being used for the Grand Prix d'Alger from 1928 to 1930.
